Description

It doesn't matter how smart your strategy or technology might be if you're not leading people that trust each other and collaborate. Developer teams and business teams don't always understand each other.

A lack of empathy can lead to poor communication, leading to a culture of mistrust, blame, and lack of respect. Systems and processes that don’t support autonomy and mastery further hurt motivation, lead to slipped deadlines, product quality problems, and can cause valuable employees to leave and companies to collapse.

Someone once said, "Culture eats strategy for breakfast." Cross-cultural movements like DevOps have solved these problems among other groups and helped build strong, productive organizations. Communication techniques and technical frameworks can all help bridge the gaps and build empathy, trust, and great teams and products.

In this talk, I'll give examples of how to address some of the blockers and opportunities on the path to building an intentional culture at your company.
